Behind The Song | "darling"

"Exit Fo[u]r" Track No. 8

Those that know me pretty well know that I’m somewhat of a prepper.

I like knowing that I have everything that I’ll need to effectively take on whatever card is going to be dealt to me next.

ex) first aid kit in case someone gets hurt, pepper spray in case myself or someone i’m with is in danger, umbrella in case it rains, etc.

(i may or may not have inherited these traits from my dad... lol)

Sometimes life throws us things that we aren’t prepared for.

Most of the time, we resist those things...

Someone incredibly special entered my life about 2 years ago and let me tell you, that was something I was **not** prepared for...

and neither was he.

Both of us resisted. Neither of us were looking for anything.

God is funny in that way.

We think we know what’s best for ourselves and then bam!

He throws something right in our way. It's usually something we didn’t even know we needed or wanted.

I fell in love with this person - mind, body, soul.

For who they are now and for who they are in the process of becoming.

Anything can happen, but i’m blessed to say that i’ve not only gained a best friend, but a partner in this life.

You changed the game, darling.

LYRICS

Little by little every day, my memory evades me

Details and phrases fade away, but one thing remains

Oh friend that I've gained

When I didn't want anything, that's when you came into my life

You got under my skin, since then, there you've been

And I tried not to let you in, now you're my biggest blessing

You changed the game, darling

Every step's lead to today, and now you've got me betting on tomorrow

And I know, I know it all can change and complicate

But one thing's for sure, right now I'm yours

When I didn't want anything, that's when you came into my life

You got under my skin, since then, there you've been

And I tried not to let you in, now you're my biggest blessing

You changed the game, darling

I love you more today than yesterday

But not as much as I will tomorrow

And you can bet to the last breath that I'm given to take

I'll be praying for your soul alone to follow

I once told myself that I would never fall in love again

But here I am, think I understand

Why God don't like when we plan
