E X I T   F O [U] R

behind the album...

this album is all about observing, experiencing, overcoming and growing.

it is the culmination of immense preparation and thought.  the process of completing this project at the culmination of my time at college was one of the driving forces that lead me to continuing my education at the school I attended.  i've learned so much.  i have built lasting relationships.  i have achieved goals i never thought i would or even could.  i have written songs that i didn’t know i was capable of writing.  i have collaborated with and had the pleasure of playing along side of some of the most talented people i have ever met, and for that i am extremely blessed.  i have studied with some of the most caring and intelligent professors.  i have grown deeper in my faith, and being farther from my family has only brought us closer together.  perhaps the most incredible facet of this experience is that it is merely the beginning of a greater adventure.

i decided on the title, Exit Fo[u]r, for my album because it's both the exit off the highway in new york that lead me to college as well as the exit in new jersey that brought me home.  i feel as though there is something to be said about a journey that begins and ends symbolically in the same fashion.  the bracket around the “u” gives the title a second meaning in that sometimes you need to take the exit just for you.  it's not always an easy thing to do, but it is vital to the cultivation and growth of our character.  the songs outlined in the album all have specific ties to experiences, places, and people that i have encountered along the way.  i thought it was only fitting to exemplify that in the title.

i have decided to release the album on january 27, 2021 in honor of my mama.  her life and passing has had the most profound impact on my growth.  after a lot of thought, i came to the conclusion that releasing the album on her birthday was a great place to start in continuing her legacy.  in addition, a percentage of all funds raised in merchandise and album sales, along with donations, will be donated to the children's hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute as a contribution in putting an end to childhood cancer - a cause that was close to my mama's heart.  i appreciate your support and i absolutely cannot wait to share this part of myself with you!
