This song was conceived through a challenge. The weeks prior to spring break 2019, we were trying to complete a 500 piece puzzle of an impressionist painting by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Needless to say we were in need of a fresh challenge. We decided to see if we could write and record an entire song in a single week (spring break). The living room of Julianna's apartment was transformed into a makeshift studio and we were off to the races. Although it was a lot of work, it was one of the most fun experiences we had the pleasure of undertaking. We started on Saturday and finalized recording and editing by the Friday after. We gotta admit it took a little longer than that week to master the recording but we completed the challenge nonetheless! We're super excited to share the culmination of this first adventure with you and hope you'll join us in our musical journey!
We wrote this one about a year ago. It was December and Tyler was getting ready to finish up his album. He had this really cool and different idea on the guitar and brought it to Julianna to write some lyrics and a melody. She didn't exactly know where to start at first. What was the song going to be about? What feelings were emanating from these chordal structures? Our friendship had been based on long talks about life and the question game... and the never ending punch buggy game, but that's beside the point. We were inspired by the complexity of the great philosophers and new ideas, but the simplicity of everyday provided such an illuminating juxtaposition that astounded us. She decided that with his collegiate career coming to an end, it seemed perfect to write the song about just that. We hope you guys enjoy this piece of us and appreciate your support!
