The Collab Project
I have found myself in a rather special situation. I am fortunate enough to be pursuing a degree in music, I have been supported by family, friends, mentors, and strangers in this pursuit, and I have been blessed with a relatively stable personal life that allows me to give back to those in need. I still feel as though there is more I can be doing, however. I've been alive for 20 years now, which means that I've been observing the world around me for about 17 of those years. I think, perhaps, the most monumental things people are in need of more than ever are faith, collaboration, and music; Faith in something bigger than themselves, Collaboration in every and any aspect of life, and music in any capacity, whether as an outlet, a challenge, or a celebration.
I've been putting together an annual benefit concert at my alma mater for three years and counting (information on the One-Stop-Tour Concert can be Found on the "one stop tour." page of my website). Each year, I choose a new cause to donate the proceeds to. This year I've decided that instead of having 1 concert for a cause, from now on I will be dedicating each year to a new cause. This means that any projects or tips from my gigs will be donated to the specific cause for the entirety of that year. The Benefit Concert will be the culmination of each year's proceeds.
Now how exactly does this project tie into these ideals? Each month, 2 new volumes of the project will be released. I will be collaborating with a new artist/group/band: 2 songs- 1 original and 1 cover. There will also be an interview portion where you, as the lovely audience, will be able to learn more about your potential new favorite artist! Each and every creator brought onto the project donates $10 or more to the cause of the year. It's a great way to be heard and work with fellow musicians who I maybe would not get the opportunity to work with if I were not in such a unique situation in my life.

2019 // This Year's Cause is the VH1: Save the Music Foundation. Its is a nonprofit whose mission is to help kids, schools, and communities realize their full potential through various music opportunities and the rebuilding of diminishing music programs. I can't imagine how different and unfulfilling my life would be had I not been exposed to or given opportunities in music. The thought that there are people in that position has given me an incredible drive to take advantage of the cards I have been dealt and work hard to ensure I am able to give back to those less fortunate than myself. The fact that I get to work with a multitude of creators who feel the same is beyond words.
